The Srenluna Medical University is an educational organisation based in Srenluna, the capital of North Urushee. Its primary directive is to educate students and practicioners of medicine, aiding the development of Surgeons and Doctors which are considered highly desirable professions in the Post-Collapse Erra.

History

Founded in the Rort of 1023 by Dr. Srifrore Mountainhand, a Dwarven Nurse. Having been born to the gambling settlement of Marlton, she witnessed a significant number of preventable deaths occurring from territorial or gang disputes that could have been prevented if anyone had possessed basic medical training. After securing significant funding from businesses interested in her proposal, she secured the efforts of contractors inside the capital to convert a derelict apartment block to sustain classrooms and other medical facilities, such as an operating room, beds for patients, and dorms to house students. The University would officially commence operations on Trint-3, 1164, posting bulletins for students to apply.

Over the decade since, the University would receive significant improvements and expansions to its structure, being able to house more students, and commencing operations as a fully fledged hospital in its own right, using its medical services to aid with providing funding for the education services.

Functions

The University's primary function is that of an educational centre for its enrolled students. Individuals that pass exams and assessments to qualify themselves as holding potential for medical professions are invited to the capital city, with their residency in the university and all other accommodations provided for by the staff. Courses at the University last a year in total, with two main courses being provided, listed in greater detail below.

Additionally, the University operates as a local hospital for Srenluna, capable of tending to the wounded and sick, provided they are able to afford the service fees. This money is considered essential by the University to help fund their further operations, but has frequently drawn criticism from the local populace about neglecting those unable to pay for treatment. The University is capable of providing care for a wide range of maladies, including broken limbs, severe diseases, and even radiation poisoning.

Enrolment

In order to be deemed eligible to study at the University, prospective students must complete a several stage Enrolment process. The first stage is to complete a written application to the University directly, introducing the candidate, their background and residence, and relevant skills that may prove beneficial to learning. Next, a "credible source" must provide a reference for the person in question, introducing themselves in a similar fashion if necessary, as well as providing details of any institutions that can verify their identity.

If a student is entered into the pool of potential candidates, they are invited to travel to the Srenluna Medical University so that they can participate in a written exam. This test covers both basic medical knowledge and training, as well as general intelligence and knowledge tests to ensure suitability for the University's course. Upon completion of the exam, they are presented with a choice between the two primary courses that the University provides.

• Medical - A course that covers treatment of injuries and wounds quickly, including fast responses to emergency scenarios, and how to provide care for those recovering from their wounds.
• Surgery - A significantly more detailed and complicated course that instructs individuals on more severe injuries, such as broken limbs and serious maladies that take skilled operation and time to mend.

In addition to the knowledge gained from completing the courses, individuals that graduate from the University have their identities recorded, so that any institutions or organizations needing verification.
