Elkkur Skyforge was a Dwarven inventor from Akzu whose lifelong ambition was to create a machine that could fly between the nations of Erra. Unable to secure funding from his peers in his nation, both due to his demeanour and the perceived impossibility of his proposals, Elkkur Skyforge largely worked by himself with a ramshackle workshop constructed and funded with his own personal wealth.

Elkkur's attempt used an Electrical engine, hoping to provide enough power that he could accelerate a vehicle fast enough to begin gaining altitude with the adjustments of enormous mechanical wings on the side. On the 17th of Trint, 1157, he attempted his first public demonstration of the machine to his Akzun peers of the Akzu Inventor Society. Reports state that he was, in fact, able to achieve liftoff for a brief time of roughly two minutes. While the exact cause of the failure that led to the tragic death of Elkkur is unknown, he seemingly lost control of his machine at the same time as it lost power, plummeting into the field below.

It is believed that Elkkur's notes were destroyed in the crash, meaning that ultimately whatever progress he made in his work may have been lost that day as well. Elkkur is remembered by his peers for his entrepeneurial spirit and bravery in the face of ridicule, even though his efforts were unsuccessful.
