Strigiformes Arcana are an Arcana subspecies related to Owls. Both variants of Strigiformes Arcana physically resemble Owls with flat faces, feathery bodies, talons, beaks, and wings.

Strigiformes Arcana typically make use of "u" or "oo" phonetics in their names due to the peculiarities of their vocalization.

Physical Features

Both variants of Strigiformes Arcana share many features with Owls. Their heads have forward-facing eyes, flat faces, and facial discs arond each eye. Their eyes remain fixed in their sockets, and are capable of rotating their heads and necks up to 270 degrees in order to facilitate better sight.

In addition, both variants of Strigiformes Arcana are notably feathered, and have talons, beaks, and wings.

Subspecies

Strigiformes Arcana (Minor)

Strigiformes Arcana (Minor) retain their appearance of traditional Owls, such as their general body shape and skeletal structure, other than their legs and feet being adjusted to stand somewhat more upright. Unlike their Major counterparts, they also carry over their substantial visual and auditory capabilities.

Compared to traditional Owls, Strigiformes Arcana (Minor) are significantly larger in stature, and are fully capable of intelligent thought as well as complex speech patterns. The tips of their wings are adapted to operate simple mechanisms and tasks, such as using doors and writing.

Strigformes Arcana (Minor) typically favour quieter, secluded settlements. Minor variants of Strigiformes do not often venture outside of familiar territories, associating themselves closely with those inside and fulfilling jobs as either night-time hunters, or reserved, scholarly roles.

Strigiformes Arcana (Major)

Strigiformes Arcana (Major) are far more detached from the appearances of traditional Owls, taking a humanoid shape that stands and walks independently of their wings, which lack the capability of flight. However, like many other Arcana (Major) subspecies, they find it easier to integrate into societies as their wing tips host a multitude of short talons that the provide menial dexterity in areas Strigiformes Arcana (Minor) lack.

Strigiformes Arcana (Major) typically reside in quiet settlements that do not make extensive use of modern technologies, seemingly finding it easier to connect with more primitive cultures. They tend to keep their traditional characteristics of being far more active at night times, and often volunteer as guards or scouts for their respective homesteads. Due to this role, they tend to be on the more sociable side of Arcana subspecies, and are innately curious about the individuals around them.
